Starting loads of 4350 should calm it down enough too suit you. The difference in recoil between that and heavy loads of slower burning charges of H1000 and the like are day and night.
You could also drop down a bullet weight two. Even full charges are tame under 150 grain bullets.
One of my pet "low recoil" loads in the 300 Win Mag and the 308 Norma mag over the years has been
50.0 grains of IMR 3031 under a 180 grain bullet. Mild mannered and accurate, it graphs just under 2700
in my present 300, and is very accurate. May need a sight adjustment, however. Dave.
Lower weight charges of slightly faster burning powders are the general method. It's what I do with my .375 H&H for moderate loads that kill well but don't kick too hard.
