I have over (250) 300 BLK cases and was wondering if they could be reformed to 221 Fireball. Fireball OAL is 1.400” and BLK is 1.368”. Would the neck be too short reformed to 221? I know it will have to be thinned after reforming. I would sell it but it is IVI manufacture and is “verboten” on CGN and don’t have a lot of 300 BLK shooters locally. These litter our range after the local ERT teams visit as they don’t police their brass very well.

221 Fireball is the parent case for 300 BLK. I've made 300 BLK from 221 Fireball but never gone the other direction. Probably the best answer is to try it for yourself and see how it turns out.

I have made 17 Fireball from 221 Fireball and some cases end up w a thick neck, but most don't.

You can always sell 300 BLK on #######. I'd suspect it would be quite popular item.

I would sell it on GP. I made up a couple of hundred 221 brass from 223 brass. The problem I see is getting a 30 cal neck reduced. Would have to be done in steps possibly annealing a couple of times. With 223 brass I heat the shoulders and run the case into the fireball die and trim to length. Necks are too thick unless using Winchester brass. Any other brass will need neck thinning. Only problem I had was the AR dent which caused the neck or shoulder to wrinkle inward. I don’t use brass that comes out of an AR.

I am looking for a small quantity of 300 Blackout brass to load for my new BCL 300 Blackout!!
