Hey CGN,

Looking to hear from any hunters out there that are actively using 300 b/o for hunting deer, what bullets are you using? and what bullet weight?

Im thinking 125gr but am always drawn to heavier, like a 150gr

I do reload.

Cheers,
Donkin

110gr Barnes TAC-TX is THE supersonic bullet to beat in the 300BO. Flattens deer at respectable ranges for the 300 and behaves more like a softer cup and core.

I’ve used 110-155gr on deer.
I’m more inclined to the lighter more explosive projectiles at the slower .30cal speeds possible in blackout for deer purposes. And keep your shots within reasonable ranges.

With the Barnes and Hornady CX 110gr bullets made specifically for the 300 BLK I really don't see the point of 150s that are giving up so much velocity/performance envelope...short of the 150gr Gold Dot made specifically for the blackout.

I bet the 135gr FTX and 130gr Speer JHP work really well (that last one shoots under an inch and expands very well at 100 yards from my rifle) but the retained weight and penetration are probably identical to the 110-120gr Barnes bullets at best...and those ones kill.
