Does anyone carry 300 Blackout ammo. I did a search on this forum but nothing showed up, I am not very good with computers, I am sure this question has been asked before, sorry.

From what I've read the sub ammo won't cycle the action reliably without a suppressor installed. Since we can't have those...what's the point of the sub ammo? Now businesses that can have the suppressors is a different story...in fact, that's the route I'd go if I could...sub ammo suppressed...hello AAC Honeybadger!

Some people are having problems, but most that take the time to find the right load are having no issues. My AR upper I built cycles hand loads all day long. That is why I am trying to get my hands on some factory, to make sure that holds true.

Were'd you hear that. I have heard of the odd person having minor issues but not a wholesale statement that the Rem ammo won't cycle reliably.

It mostly depends on the size of the gas port. AAC has chosen a slightly smaller gas port but there is no reason the port cannot be enlarged.

Other than the PDW stock there is nothing overly special about the HB. It is a conventional AR with a 9" barrel and a thread-on suppressor. Excepting the suppressor anyone can make something like that.

Modifying AAC's gas port

Hi
this is a quote taken from AAC's Black Rifle Manual for 300 Blackout on page 18-19.

"USER MODIFICATIONS
The gas-port diameter was selected after thousands of rounds of function testing and high-speed video analysis.
We do not recommend you enlarge your gas-port to aid subsonic function because then supersonic ammunition
will hyper-cycle the upper which will reduce the reliability and part life durability of the system. AAC has developed
subsonic and supersonic ammo that both function reliably (with and without an AAC 762-SDN-6 sound suppressor)
without the need for an adjustable gas block."
AAC was the company that did alot or R&D on the 300AACBLK and standardized the cartridge from the 300 Whisper.
They started off making suppressors first then went into the AR

The manual belong to this:

The majority of commercially built 556 ARs are over gassed yet it it is somehow a sin to slightly enlarge the gas port for a round that burns 2/3s the powder of a 556?

A bit if extra gas in the system isn't going to hurt anything. The 300 Whisper has been around for 25 years. If it was prone to failure due to over gassing it would be well documented by now.

The problem is that Robert Silvers isn't nearly as smart as he thinks he is. He has zero background in engineering or weapons design. The guy is a computer science nerd who specializes in digital art.

I know full well who AAC are. I have been inside their factory and know their top people personally. I have met with Robert Silvers on a number of occasions and have intimate knowledge of their silencer designs and performance.
