300 Jarrett

While up north this summer, I found one loaded cartridge laying by a trail. The head stamp was 300 Jarrett.
Not familiar with this cartridge. Looks very much like an 300 RUM cartridge.Anybody know anything about this chambering??

A friend of mine from Michigan has a Kenny Jarrett 300 and 338. IIRC, it's based off a 8mm RemMag.

That's what I recall as well. Necked up or down, and improved somewhat. Never owned one though. Back when beanfield rifles were hot they were a popular choice. - dan

Epps had a couple of Jarrett customs a few years ago at a small fraction of what they would've been new. Almost jumped on it. I see they now have a Hill Country 257 Wby at a good deal, must resist.

Don’t remember ever seeing any Jarrett rifles for sale.
Can’t be many of them around.

They are one of custom rifles. So no, there won’t be many floating around. Especially in Canada.

Ellwood Epps has had some for sale. I guided an American doctor who had such a rifle and cartridge, very well built. Jarret rifles are all custom and his cartridges are proprietary.
