Chap I know recently came into possession of an P17 that was re-chambered in .300 Magnum Imperial...or .300 Canadian Magnum, if you prefer.

At any rate, given that this is essentially a wild cat cartridge with brass that was fire formed from .404 Jeffrey I doubt there's anything in the way of available brass and dies but hope springs eternal.

I myself couldn't find any in a thorough search...anyone here know where he can find dies and brass or this cartridge?

Brass was available through NASS run by Aubrey White, who is a CGN member. RCBS did produce dies at one time. Where to find dies or brass today, is another matter.

Brass can be formed from 300 Rum or 338 Rum. The 300 Rum shoulder is a little further forward and has to be bumped back a little. The 338 Rum shoulder is already pushed back. The neck on the 338 Rum can be sized down leaving a slight resistance when the bolt is closed. Those cases can be loaded and fireformed.

If your friend is not an experienced reloader it may make more sense to re chamber that barrel to the 300 Rem Ultra Mag. This would likely require setting the barrel back a thread but that is no big issue. that would make ammo a non issue

There's a guy on the EE that has had all imperial magnum caliber brass for sale for a while. They're in the gold boxes and he only wanted a dollar a piece. I seen his ad again not to long ago. Just looked and his handle is Parnelli

Canadian Imperial had a lot of brass made that had loose pockets. The lot I got with my 338ImpMag had loose pockets, I got 2 more boxes a few months later and they were loose as well. I took it up with Aubrey White, the owner of ImpMag, and he said for me to get 375RUM brass and neck it down to 338, and except for, I think it’s 5 deg, difference in shoulder angle it’s identical. So I wouldn’t get ImpMag brass, unless for a collection. I’ve got 2 boxes of 338 if you want one.

The RUM line actually stems from the Canadian Imperial line. The only difference is the 5 degree difference in the shoulder angle.
