Hello All,

I have a 30" 300 Norma Magnum barrel in a DTA SRSA2.

I have been loading some virgin Lapua brass with 230 grain Berger Hybrid Tacticals and FGMM Large Magnum Rifle primers.

I was loading VV N565 and was able to get to 3000 fps without any noticeable heavy bolt lift or markings on the brass.

Long story short couldn't find 565 so grabbed the 568 I could find and worked a load to 3000 fps. No issues for the first 50 or so rounds then started getting heavy bolt lift and markings on fired brass (when I was in Alberta), sadly the bolt head also broke.

I decided to switch back to 565 (got the rifle and barrel looked over), and was wondering if I went too far trying to go to 3000 fps or if I should drop it down to 2900 or 2950.

I'm hoping to get this out as far as I can. With those N568 at 3000fps was able to get three consecutive hits out to 2330m.

Also was able to borrow a Charlie Tarac so will see how far I can get out with it.

On another forum this recently came up. Opinions were split, but possible carbon ring deposit was one reason for higher pressure, assuming environmentals didn’t change much.

Environmental change was from Ontario to Alberta
