Whats involved to switch a Remy 700 from RUM to Win Mag, just a barrel and follower change? is the bolt and bolt face the same?

I'd like to try a Sendero in .300 RUM and if its too hot for me maybe rebarrel in .300 WM

I was actually talking to my gunsmith to change and rechamber 300RUM to 300 win or 300WSM.
Since 300RUM action is magnum long Action so it is very easy to swap. just order whatever barrel from your gunsmith, and get him to install. most will stay the same and it will cost around 600-800 for barrel and installed for match grade. Unless you are specificly building a barrel with many mods would go over $1000 but most will stay below $800 no prob.

Try posting in the gunsmith forum to make sure but I think that you will have problems with feeding because the action is hogged out more on the bottom to feed the fatter rum cartridges. Single feed should work though.

if the RUM is too hot, why not just sell the RUM and buy a WM? You'd be out of pocket a lot less jack.

or the easy fix is to thread muzzle brake on it. should only cost around $200-300 and will reduce recoil like shooting .223.

Only the noise to the shooter will increase by as much as the recoil is reduced.

I do know that the feed rails had to be modified to get a standard magnum receiver to feed the RUM cases, so the RUM receiver may not feed the standard magnum cartridges properly.
