The week-end I went to buy new Irish Setter boots. Came back with a Remington 700 XCR 300 RUM.

Do you guys know where I can buy new 300 UM brass in Canada. Higginsons powder only carry Winchester brass.

Thanks

Mush, Dominic

Brass

Brass is becoming a "hard to find what you want" product. Sometime we do the "use what you can get" system and keep an eye out for what you want.
Carry on!

You can get Remington 300 RUM brass from Russel sports in Calagary. I think they are owned by Wholesale Sports now. Wholesale Sports never seems to have anything in stock but I am still a great customer.

Nosler makes some high quality brass for the 300. you can buy if from http://www.lockstock.com/ has it for $54.23 but shipping by cost you. On the other had our dollar is good.

I live in Abitibi-Témiscamingue. It is a northern-western region of Québec province.

And by the way , they didn't had my size for the boots.

I ordered a Zeiss Conquest 3.5x10x44 silver from SIR and the dies from RCBS directly (because I had to order ¨almost custom¨ 7.21 Lazerroni Firebird Dies too. )
I ordered some brass from Russel too.
Can't wait to fired that thing. It is so lightweight, much lighter than my MArk II Sporter 300 Win Mag. It is going hurt.
Thanks all !

I saw the Knoxx stock in a picture. Interesting looking contraption.

Only two concerns: stock is wobbly due to all those moving parts which will affect accuracy. Your shoulder may not get smashed but your eye might!!!

Any guesses on how much that stock will piston?

I've got a Rem 700 stainless laminated LH in 300RUM. Muzzle brake makes it kick the same or less than my Tikka .308. I did the trigger and bedded the action including the chamber portion of the barrel. The barrel channel was then completely free floated.

My handload: Rem brass, Fed215 primer, 94.5gr Reloader 25, Nosler 180gr Accubond at 3350fps over my Chrony. Plenty fast! Results were the first 2 groups measuring 0.52" and 0.81" at 100 meters! Best groups before bedding/free floating was done were closer to 2" at 100 meters with factory Rem 180gr Swift Scirroco.

P&D is where I buy my supplies.

I don't know how much danger there is of getting hit around the eye but have thought of this. I was going to email Knoxx when I became more serious about it. They do have a video with a 300 RUM that looks interesting however they just put it up to the shoulder and not actually look through the scope.

I just bought a Remington Model 700 LSS in .300 RUM. It's a fun gun to shoot. I recommend folding up a towel and throwing it over your shoulder when target shooting. This way, you can shoot more than 3 shots before you begin flinching. Make sure you have a scope with generous eye relief as well. I put a Leupold Vari-X III 4.5 x 14 with Boone and Crocket reticle on my rifle with Leupold low rings on a 1 Piece base. I find the rifle to be quite heavy but don't mind the weight at all when I'm pulling the trigger.

Best of luck with your new toy.

The Rem XCR as a R3 recoil pad. It is made by limbsaver. Hope it will transform the snap in a push.
The Zeiss Conquest 3.5x10x44 has 3.5 inches of constant eye relief. I will make sure to set it up well in the rings. I gave myself the scope eye (with a lot of blood) this automn with my Ruger Mark II 300 Win Mag and a Elite 4200 2.5x10x40 while firing on my moose. A least , I am eating it now !

But I am starting to fear that lightweight XCR. Just hope that I don't reacquire that flinch that I got rid of this summer. And I don't think that I will fire 500 rounds of it this summer, like I did with the 300 Win Mag.

My recomendation is to quit being such a bunch of pussies. You get used to it. Off the bench it sucks but offhand or in a real hunting situation after a while you won't even notice.
