I have a .300 wsm and have no problems finding ammo for it.
Thomas Pigion from Canada in the Rough says only the .300 WSM is truely capable of being an all around rifle while the .30-06 makes an ok deer gun. Using that logic, it was only natural I would vote for the .30-06.![]()
I agree with that one, though the guy is a boob.He also says muzzle brakes don't belong in the hunting world.
I counted one box of 300SWM at my local CT.Canadian Tire sells .300 WSM.
Send me the $5! Not the bonnies but in my town (pop. 10,000)CDN Tire, Walmart, and TSC have 300 WSM not one has 300 Savage.Stop in at a small farm supply store in the boonies and try looking there. I have five bucks that say's you'll find .300 Savage before you find .300 WSM.
I don't know how many rifle you have but if you only have 1 rifle get a 30-06.
It's accurate, powerful, ammo is plentiful and recoil is reasonable.
300 WSM is awesome for long distance large game hunting but that's it:
- (+) extra 100 yards of effective hunting range (the only real advantage),
- (-) recoil is often a excessive and cause accuracy problems,
- (-) ammo is more difficult to find and more expensive.
Personaly, I own a 270WSM as my "big" hunting rifle and love it but I also own 223 Rem, 243 Win, 308 Win rifles.
If I had only rifle for hunting, it would be a 30-06 (or a 270).
