I am thinking of buying some new brass for my weatherby and was wondering what the difference in weatherby brass versus Remington RP brass is. Any knowledge in this would be greatly appreciated.

Weatherby headstamped brass is made by Norma and is of a very good quality. You can buy the same Norma brass without the Weatherby headstamp a little cheaper.

I personally like Remington brass and use a lot of it for several different cartridges. I will be the first to admit though that it is not as good a quality as the cases that Norma produces.

My first LR rifle was in 300Wby and I used Weatherby brass to start. NOT IMPRESSED. Compared to Win brass, it just couldn't handle the pressure and primer pockets opened up quickly.

I made Wby brass with 300H&H, and 7STW brass. Relatively easy fireforming task.

Accuracy was comparable between the different brands. The Norma/Wby brass did not show a significant increase in accuracy.

I had problems finding brass for my 300 WBY. Finally ordered some and went with the Norma brass. I myself wouldn't fireform brass if I could find new stuff. The stress if you reload hot is quite great and when you are looking at 60,000psi or so not worth the risk IMO. I haven't reloaded any fired brass yet but the Norma is looking pretty good so far.

Fireforming is done at very low pressures and doesn't affect the life of the brass. In fact, it will help with accuracy as the brass is already formed to the chamber before you go to full throttle.

There can be LESS stretching in the web when forming is done at reduced pressures.

I found neck sizing with the collet die lead to the best accuracy and longest brass life.

Hummm. I just bought a 100 pieces of new Wby 300 mag brass. I am new to reloading but have found that the Wetherby brass easily compresses the neck and obviously destroyes the round. This hasn't happened to the Federal brass I have.

Try Nosler Brass, not cheap but very nice. Also Lapua is top notch. I use the Nolser brass in my Kimber 8400 Montana 300 WM and Lapua in my 308. HS Precision Pro2000 HTR. Neither miss a beat and have great quality control. For someone who is time strapped, such as me, it save time in sorting brass when you buy it. I don't bother with the Nosler and Lapua brass.

Any idea who makes the 300 Weatherby brass sold under the Hornady brand? Is it actually Hornady or is that just a private label?

Does anyone have experience with it?

If you are compressing the neck on any brass, you die is set too far down.
