300 weatherby magnum

Just remember there is no such thing as "TOO dead"...........but there most assuredly is a condition known as "not dead ENOUGH"
The 300 Wby is an outstanding cartridge and my choice for all game on all continents in all conditions, except the obvious pachyderms that require a much larger projectile.

You're right about that, but the vast majority of hunting done here in NB is shorter range deer hunting. Moose hunting is far and between.

A 270Win is a better choice here overall.:stirthepot2:

when I made the trade it wasn't the caliber I was after, it was the vanguard I wanted, one in 308 or 270 would have been nice

well shot the 300 today and I am very impressed with it, recoil wasn't as bad as I thought it would be and it's very accurate

Recoil is mostly in the shooter's head. If it wasn't then people couldn't get used to it; its not like you grow a callous or something.

The big .300s are great cartridges. A feller could have a wild and successful hunting career without knowing much more than that a .300 is lots of gun for just about anything, just about anywhere, and at just about any distance. They might not be for everybody but that's their problem. ;)

my biggest problem with it would be the weight, if I get in walking mode it wouldn't be a nice rifle to have, maybe I should pick up a 336 lol
