I have a 300 win mag savage action. I want to Rechamber it in a bigger caliber: 8 mm and up.
What do you think? What would be your choice and why?

Yeah, do it! I'd go 338 Lapua if it is a large shank set up....great long range choice and if you look around you could possibly find a stock savage take off barrel for a great price along with bottom metal and HS precision stock!

Bolt face needed to changed. But i already have 338 lapua.
I was wondering, 9,3x 300, 375-300. 8x68 imp,,, 9,3x64, some weird possibilités over300 in odd caliber?

You won't be able to re-chamber it in any of those, it will require a new barrel in the correct caliber. Pick what ever you want, buy the barrel and a reamer and have it made.

Aside from needing a different barrel, you'll have to consider the cost of the amount of work it takes if you opt for a cartridge with a different case length and/or case head diameter and maybe altering it for non-belted(not likely an issue). Not likely a big deal though. The .300 Mag is fairly large in the case head and length department at .532" and 2.620" respectively. Gives you a lot of versatility.
Whatever you end up with think about the cost and availability of ammo/brass first.
I'd be thinking .375 H&H myself. Only because I've read all of Capstick's books. And assuming it'd fit in a .300 Win Mag Savage magazine. Case alone is 2.850" long.

This is the most economical choice. Any other route and one does not want to ad up the cost. One has to be careful...barrel here...hs precision stock...trigger. It ads up quick and when you think about it, from a money not a "i want too" standpoint. .....It quickly becomes easier to sell the original gun, and use that money to buy some other gun someone else has already tricked out...at a fraction of what they are into it.

The 9.3x64 has a rebated rim if I recall correctly and is about 40 thou smaller in rim diameter. I would be inclined to stick to something based on the 300 or 338 case. It can be necked up to whatever you want and the mag won't have to be altered. 9.3 x 300 would be very nice. Even the 9.3 x 64 would be a reloading proposition and 300 WM brass is easy to get.
