  • referenced Lyman Cast Bullet Handbook for .300 WM reduced load guidelines
  • today tried 147gr CamPro FMJ / 24.0gr Alliant 2400 / PPU brass / BR-2
  • ~1900 fps mv accuracy not bad could likely improve by adjusting powder charge
  • ***non-published load - safe in my Sako 85 ONLY - NOT a recommendation***
  • less powder, less barrel wear, more target shooting 👍
  • compared to 110gr TTSX @ 4130 fps mv⚠️

I use 38 grains vihtavouri n110 in my 300 weatherby magnum with the campro 147 grain. Velocity 2400. I have never used 2400 but I think it is very close to n110. I like shooting my mark 5 with this load.

I don't use a fill I am afraid of it. I pay no attention to my powder position when shooting and it seems insignificant for what I want to do. My attitude on fillers is simply a prejudice, I have no experience with it

Lyman lists some loadings with filler some powders could be position sensitive 2400 is 1 of them in some cartridges they list gonna try my .300 WM with & without filler see if there's a difference.

Fill vs no fill

  • powder charge increased to 29gr 2400 / BR-2 / PPU brass
  • ***non-published load - safe in my rifle ONLY - NOT a recommendation***
  • no polyfil way erratic delayed ignition wide muzzle speed spread nice shotgun pattern f:P:2:
  • with polyfil consistent muzzle speed no delayed ignition better accuracy 👍
