300 win mag recoil

Have to shoot them to find out.....
sometimes weight is not everything. A nine lb w/a bad stock design will "kick" worse than a 7.5 with a good fitting stock.

Actual recoil is always less in the heavier gun (all other things being equal). As for felt recoil, that is a totally subjective matter that can vary from shooter to shooter.

My brother has a .300 WM in a composite stock, about a 7lb gun, mine is a Ruger #1 and is about 10lbs. Mine kicks way harder because of the hockey puck on the butt. His has a nice soft pad and it just pushes a bit.

I shot my friends T3 Lite /synthetic stock and that thing kicked pretty good.BUT...the recoil pad on there is crap.I told him to get a Sims.I recently bought a Rem.700CDL SF in 300WSM w/ R3 recoil pad (Sims) and found the rifle a joy to shoot. My gun might weigh a 1 1/2 / 1/3/4 pounds more than the T3.I know weight of the rifle has a bearing on felt recoil, but having a good recoil pad makes a big difference. My chum has since bought a Sims LimbSaver custom fit pad for his gun and it made a difference. As others have mentioned ,how the gun fits you and the type of stock material all factor in.

sold a guy a 300 in thompson prohunter yesterday said it didnt kick as bad as his 30-06 ruger but was wearing a nice half moon over his right eye.Did admit that it came from the 300 after he tried to hold the gun down all the recoil came back and split him good

I've got a T3 Hunter (wood stock) in 300 MM, a friend had the same caliber in the T3 Tupperware special. The difference was day and night, the light plastic gun just stung, and whoever dreamed up the idea a hard sharp toe on the recoil pad should be tied to a post and left to die. Mine is rather mild with the same loads, his got sold. What a difference a pound can make.

Yep the T3 in a tupperware stock in 300 wm is brutal. A day at the range with that requires an icy cold patch. I agree that a limbsaver or other quality pad is all that is required to tame it. Personally though i just prefer wood stocks and I would never purchase another 300wm without a wood stock.

To answer your question - yes. However, a T3 deluxe I have (300 win Mag) is still very light yet much better behaved than a T3 with the synthetic stock. The walnut stock fits me real well, lines up like my favorite shotgun and I'm pretty sure I could flatten deer at 100 yds with it with no sights at all. Recoil with it is about what I remember my older Sako 75 in 7mm RM had....not bad at all.

Once upon a time there was a guy who asked an honest question and got an honest answer and someone felt the need to put that answer down.

Hey, don't get upset at the skepticism 'cause your "honest" answer sounded like BS to all the experienced riflemen out there.

Or maybe, just maybe, you have the evilest 30-30 out there.

Not trying to put you down, just that my experience is far different.;) My dad has a .300 Win in a fairly heavy Kleingunther and a decelerator pad on it. No freaken way does it kick as mild as my Win 94 .30-30 even with it's metal butt plate. Recoil from the .300 is stout, but certainly manageable, and more than my Ruger .30-06. The .30-30 is a toy next to a .300's recoil.
