300 win mag scoping

question ,,i have just purchased model 70 win 300 mag older model ..want to scope with my older leupold 3to 9.. ..my bro gave me the scope and it came with the weaver rings and am not very flush these days so was wonderin if the weaver rings would hold the scope well enough..dont look all that strong...lol..thanks for any help..

They should be fine.

I've got weaver rings on my .300 win mag in a Stevens 200 and it's a very light and hard-recoiling rifle. I've also had a Win 70 in .338 win mag with weaver rings for 20 years and they worked great for that application as well.

As with every set of rings, make sure to lap them so that they are true and clean, that way you'll be sure they will clamp down on the scope nice and solid.

Weaver rings have their own quirks, but not being strong enough isn't one of them.

That's for sure, and they detach quickly and return to zero as well as mounts costing five times as much!

Try shooting a group, while removing and replacing the scope between shots. It pretty conclusive.
