300 Win Mag with 130 gr TTSX for Deer

I've decided just because and will choose an accurate ~3500 fps load. Shots will be 200 yds or less, so the low BC of the bullet is irrelevant. Will zero at or slightly below for 100 yds.

Any experience here with the same bullet and similar MV's?

I have shot whitetail with rifles from .243 up to .375 H&H 300 gr....... As well as a a BP rifle with magnum charge and a 300 gr. Bullet...... You will be surprised how little a difference it will make......

300 win mag.....IMHO, I'd go no lighter than 165's....Unless you are trying to reduce recoil with the 130's what is the advantage to high speed 130's in under 200 yards?

Also the 300 WM benefits the most with heavy bullets especially at longer ranges...hopefully the 130's will hold together at those velocities for you at close range on deer.

Little difference I suspect but post some pics. I did see a visual difference once with a bear claw in 375 H&H on a deer I foul tipped while bear hunting . It looked like an IED event. But alas dead right there is, well, dead right there whether .22 HP or 570 g Nitro Expess RN

Try to find some TSX 110grainers . Drive em 3600 f/s and watch stuff die like they were hit by lightning.

I read an article years ago in Rifle magazine. The author took a lightweight X-bullet loaded .300WM to Africa for plains game. Both him and his guide were supprised how quickly it incapacitated the game he shot with it. I'm planning a similar test once I get my reloading stuff set up again.

I worked up an accurate load for my Sako 85 Grey Wolf .300 Win. Mag. with 130gr TSX bullets and Reloder19 at 3300 fps MV. I would like to try it out on game.

I'm a fan of these exact combinations in the BC rocks, for trajectory reasons in field conditions they're magic along with 110gr .270, 120gr 7mm, etc. Kills stuff too, take the shoulder.

Push light for caliber ttsx bullets and watch some of the most amazing kill shots you have ever seen. I have been doing this for ten years now and it almost always is extremely devastating

I wound the 80 grain TTSX up to 3950 fps to see what that kind of velocity would do with a copper bullet. Not near as much as I would have liked, that's for sure.

I've done the 80gr out of a 257wby I've done the 120 out of 7mm08 I've done the 110gr out of a 270wsm, 130 out of the 308 and 300win mag and 200 out of the 35 whelen. I've probably killed 40 animals with these combinations personally and only ever recovered 2 bullets they are he'll on game. Like I said go light and watch critters die almost instantly
