On that note, what do you suggest for store bought in the 180 g?
Federal Premium 180gr Nosler Partitions.
I love the 180gr 30 caliber Partition.
In my Opinion the 200gr bullet is the best choice for 30 Cals with 06 cases or bigger. Pushing the 200gr in a 06 @ 2600-2650fps with good BC AND SD is a great performer.....same can be said with the 300 Magnums.
Hey Douglas I would have thought that the 300 Weatherby would be able to do better than that? Im working with some loads and my 325WSM is showing a lot of promise that it can obtain 3100 fps with a 200gr pill......and 2900+ with a 220gr....these of coarse are charges reaching near Max.
They will do better than that in the Wby, but if I post my actual chronographed velocities people call me a liar, or gun torturer, or just plain crazy............that's why I put the little "+" after the accepted velocity range, to designate the possibilities and where I go with them.![]()

I use RL 25 with 200 Parts and Accubonds and easily exceed Weatherbys claimed velocity by more than 100 fps in a 24" Rem 700. I know this load is safe because I have used it in Africa at over 50 C with no problems, no bolwn primers and only a slight increase in bolt lift resistance.
Here's a photo of the chronograph tape and group that she shoots........
Was brought up to understand the reason for a magnum is to drive heavy for cal. bullets at the same speed (+ a bit) and if that's not your thinking then don't get the mag. I like 200 gr. in my 300 w/ 26 inch barrel.
I think it is important to note that your COAL is 3.95" vs SAAMI max of 3.56". That gives you an approximate 9% increase in net case capacity with the 200gr Accubond. This is excellent if your magazine box and chamber will allow such an OAL. I have a feeling that in your case this didn't happen by accident.
Nope 1899, the rifle is heavily modified in order to allow me to seat out to the lands, bolt throw has been lengthened and magazine has been lengthened to 4" and Sako bottom metal has been used and adapted to allow the lengthening of everything by this much.........
