300 wsm and precision

500 is about the minimum I even bother to shoot thhis one at , becuase I have a few others that I use for that.
This one is for 1K + shooting.
It's a 300WSM on a C.I.L. 950T action with a prototype stock of the same era.
Scope is a Unertl 24X.
Bullets I use so far have been 210 and 169.5 Alberta Wildcat ULD's, and (I have also used some 200 match Kings with great sucsess.

ive posted the pic a lot , but it's easier for me to do that than to try to link it to another thread for someonebecause, well, I don't know how!! I can turn on a computer, but not much more!
The rifle itself is equiped with irons as well ( old school Centrals and a tiger sight up front) as a rail for a singlee point sling, just for fun.

With the right barrel and install, there are very few cartridges that can't be made to shoot well at LR. The key is what are you planning to use this rifle for.
In 30cal and LR target/hunting, bigger cases have dominated because of the need for lots of fuel to get big heavy high BC bullets moving. If only planning on using the lighter 155 to 190gr, the WSM will work well but LR ballistics is not as good as the 210 to 240gr class bullets.
Certainly more then adequate for plinking out to the KM but they will get blown around more then heavier bullets (if launched just as fast).
Unless there is a specific reason for using the 300WSM, consider the 6mm, 6.5 mm, and 7mm cals. Bullets are now superb with no shortage of low recoil zappers. LR competition is quickly being dominated by these smaller cals all around the world.

I have been shooting a Savage BVSS in 300 WSM at up to 1000 yards for a year now. Considering that I am shooting a factory rifle against custom built rifles, I don't do to badly. I am shooting a 175gr SMK at 2950 FPS and even though the ballistic coefficient isn't as good as the smaller 6 or 6.5 mm bullets, the elevation and wind corrections seem to be the same. I am seriously considering building a custom rifle in this calibre.
