I bought a 300 WSM Model 700 XCR2
It ejects Fed and Win brass like it should
Remington brass will extract but not eject. Just lays in the action...
The Remington rim measures 0.528"
The Winchester measures 0.534"
Fed measures 0.532"
Spec is 0.535"

Anyone else have issues with Rem brass in the 300 WSM?
Why would they manufacture this brass that is well below spec?

The SAAMI cartridge drawing lists the rim diameter as .535 - .010, meaning .535 to .525 so your Remington 300 WSM rim is .003 larger than minimum diameter.

The case body diameter just above the extractor groove is .5550 - .008, meaning .5550 to .547.

Below watch video of modified extractor.

Sako Extractor Upgrade for Rem 700 Works Great

Note, Remington declared bankruptcy and their quality control has been going down hill for a long time.

Below my Remington 700 has a beveled firing pin hole in the bolt face, and the primers flow into face of the bolt. :bangHead:

Thanks for that. I have a sako extractor in a Rem 700 and although it works fine, would prefer to stick with the factory Remington extractor assuming it will operate properly.

In my Remington 700 photo the extractor is riveted at the 12:00 position in the photo.

I'm wondering if the opposite end of the extractor could be bent up slightly and get a better grip on the rim for a simple fix.

See if you can get a answer from the gunsmith experts in the forum on this idea.

Or just scrap the Remington brass and use what works best.

Read the link below, the Winchester brass is harder and cheaper but Norma and Nosler are higher quality.
