300 WSM ImpresionséResults I am sold

These short fatties have been on the market for some time I reserved buying one just for teh simple fact my 300 wm has served me well along with my 300 wby.

When a deal comes along that I think warrents it I generaly snag it up.

I know it sounds crazy but most of you know the delema that one is faced when your old man looks at you and sayes maybe I should buy a new rifle, so I went down stairs and said what one should I give him, I looked trhough the hunting rifles I own, looked at the 3-30 he carries and said LOL I dont want to give him any that I have lol he will destroy them , so I kept my eyes open and a savage 11 came up cheep and in great condition leupold rail mounts and rings for 300 bones.

I took a box of factory win sups with me loaded up 15 rounds one 5 lot with RL-15, and the other 10 with H-380 accordig to the nosler books.

Mounded a old/new full field II on the Model 11 and took it for a test drve on Sunday.

The RL-15 was the least accurate powder and teh H-380 with Nosler Accubonds stold the show and shot 3 shots well with in MOA A winning load after 15 rounds is never my luck, so i fired the other 2 into what measured 1.3 MOA very respectable with a already warm now hot barrel. So much for load development. The factory ammo shot very well into an inch as well but at $56
a box I will reload them thank you.

I am sold on the WSM, velocity is equal with 165s and 18os, and accuracy is not an issue with the 300WM this short fatty and recoil is very tame to my standards.

Loaded with 165s at 3125 fps Fed mag primers I think I am going to have to find another gun for teh old man because I am keeping this one too LOL!

As for the Sav 11 well it is what it is, this is the first savage hunting rifle i have bought I would lie to you if i told you how nice it was, but I did some trigger work and free floating and teh darn little gun shoots like no tomorrow. This one is slatted for my moose hunting boat gun and paddle if needed. You know the kind your not affraid to use.

Yup...I've yet to see a Savage that wouldn't shoot..Like you said a few adjustments here and there and now have a true hunting rifle.Hard to say no for 300 bones..
