I'm wondering if the Rem 700 short action/Seven is a little short for a 300WSM....I have a M70 7WSM and with a 140 or 160 Accubond on the lands it's at 2.925" OAL which would put me about .10" off the lands in a 700/Seven.....

How does the 300 WSM work out for OAL?

I never tried to seat mine on the lands in my 700, as the mag would only allow out to 2.86, which is pretty much factory OAL. The WSM would benefit from a slightly longer mag, like the model 70, sako 75, or even the Ruger. Is the model 7 mag shorter than the 700 S/A?

I just seat my bullets to my mag length at 2.889" for my T3. I'm using TSX 180grn BT which they recommend 0.050" however 2.889" is way more then that probably closer to 0.125" jump to the lands.

I think if they feed and fit into your mag without any problems giver a go. If the accuracy sucks try factory lengths and see if the shoot better.

Short 700 and Seven mags are the same length.

If someone could seat one on the lands for me I'd appreciate it.

I know most short actions have a longer mag then the Remmies, my M70 is almost 3.1"...the Ruger M77 350 Mag I had was about 2.90.....

wondering about 300WSM OAL "on the lands" with a SAAMI chamber.

I thought the reason Remingotn went wiht the SAUM caeses instead of WSM size was so it woudl fit in a Mdl 7 action?

I know the SAUM is a bit better fit in a short 700 or a Seven, I've had them on both actions....I haven't bought a 700 or a Seven in a 300WSM yet, but I'm thinking on one.....the 700 can have a longer box fitted, the Seven cannot because the trigger is moved forward compared to the 700....
