Hi

I was wondering if anybody is using LR primers in the 300wsm? If so with what powders? good results?

all my manuals only list the mag primers in the load data sections

Thanks

2 loads I've tried with plain jane LR primers, ~20 degrees C:

180 Nosler Partition Protected Point 63.0 H4350 FED210 Primer WW brass 9/16" 3-shot group 2809 fps avg.

165 Barnes TSX 67.0 H4350 FED210 Primer WW brass 1" 3-shot group
3036 fps avg.

I haven't shot these in relatively cold temps to see how they perform. If I was planning a hunt in those conditions, would likely switch to mag primers.

Cheers,
hf

I found that the best batch of ammo I could make was with a Mag primer, then I tried the same load, but with a LR primer. Poor results. not terrible, but not as good as the magnum primers.

May be you see 15 - 50 /fs drop in velocity . If you are upgrading from LR to LRM then you looking to drop some charge bysome 10% and check your velocity that you'r not going overbored
