I am looking to reload some 3006 with 165gr Hornady GMX. I Will be using Winchester brass and primers, the rounds Will be necksized and crimped.I have varget blc2 and imr4064 on han d. I Will be shooting wild boar, small deer and ealk at 5 to 300 yards.

Do Amy of you have experience reloading 3006 with GMX bulles?

Thanks!

For best performance you would be better served with slower burning powders, my best for the '06 and 165 gr. bullets is WW760 and Reloder 19, but I will play with the new "Hybrid 100" powder.

Slower burning powders are often reccomended, but I am finding BL-C2, which you mentioned, to be very versatile. I also know some veteran reloaders who think highly of it as well. I would not hesitate, at all, to work up a load with it. You may be pleasantly surprised.

I load 165 grain Hornady with 4064 in my 30 06 700 Remington max load 51.7 2,800 FPS
this is max so work your rifle up to it .The other day shot 6 bullets 1 inch at
100 yards . I have shot elk and deer they drop on the spot when the shot
is in the right place
.
Good luck

I shoot 165 gr. with H335. One of my favorite loads. I can check my notes for grain weight when I get home if you want.

edit-I've used 45.4-45.7 gr of H335, going up a tenth grain over a few years. All were good rounds.

I'm seeing good accuracy with 165gr Hornadys and 49gr. of IMR4064. Under an inch in a Savage package rifle. Really just starting out with this rifle but things are looking good.

There is only one load for the 165/168 and the '06....57-58.5grs IMR-4350. :)
Not my load but gleamed from John Barsness, Handloader Magazine. Amazing accuracy in ever '06 I've ever shot it in.

Don't have fear to try other loads I used that load for years before I found 4064 load you may just change your mined like I did and others have .

I tried 4350 in my 30-06, I didn't get a group smaller than 2.25" when doing my ladder test.

Varget on the other hand, I found 2 loads 46gr & 47.6gr. both under an inch in initial testing, both under 1.25" - 5 shot groups is second & further tests.

OP,Both of the powders you list will work just make a ladder test and see what works best in your rifle. If it were me I'd start with the 4064.

Cheers!
