Here's the question .Speer manual says max cartage length 3.340" . So I measure a factory Federal 150 gr FMJ and its 3.30" . OK so far .Now I measure a factory Frankford arsenal cal .30 M25 tracer round and it almost 3.60" Problem I am having is using the new Federal FMJ @ 3.30" will feed fine from cloth belt in my 1919A4 but the factory military tracer round @ 3.60" jams up in the feed tray (too long ) Any one know the military spec for .30 cal round .

Royal Canadian Ordnance Corps Ammunition Bulletins (dated Dec '62) state that the overall length for the .30-06 Ball that was used in Canadian M1919 machine guns was 3.34".

Thanks for the info . I have 10 box's of this M25 tracer ammo & it's all 3.6" Must have been a factory screw up . It's all dated 1957 . functions fine in my M1 rifle but not in my browning . Guess I will run them through a bullet seating die to 3.34"
