This little project is probably more to scratch an itch to build an AR15 than to actually own one, and decided to go 300blk just for something different there with the end result too. Been awhile now putting a plan together and ordering some parts; still have some final decisions on some smaller bits, but pretty well finalized how I want this to go. First time build, so not putting crazy expen$ive parts into it - more middle of the road and what catches my eye. Some beginning parts have arrived with the rest in the pipeline. I intend to load my own ammo, another hobby in a hobby I enjoy, and will be staying supersonic only there. Will update the post as the job progresses - which will probably be a bit haphazard waiting on "stuff" and my haphazard way of getting stuff done lol.

Cool build so far. What barrel and handguard are you going with? Did you order that upper with the kryptek camo pattern?

Thanks, going with an Odin Works 10.5" barrel and one of their '02 Lite' M-lok handguards, along with some of their other parts including a minimalist stock. The DPMS upper/lower were already coated "Kryptic Typhon" - liked the look :) . Will send the handguard out to be coated the same when I get it (Blackbox Customs).

I would just send them the parts you want coated along with your receivers so they can match up the stuff they are coating.
Saves them from stripping and putting it all back together and would probably save you on shipping there and back due to package size.

Sounds like a plan, thanks.

Very cool. Looking forward to seeing the final build.

Cool, looking forward to seeing the end product.
Remember that 300BLK does not require any heavy buffers or any special parts to make it cycle nicely. Pistol length gas system and standard AR carbine parts.
I have had the most success with supersonics using H110 for the light stuff, Lil'Gun for mid weight (130-165) and A1680 for the 150+ including 200+ subsonics if you decide later to try going sub. If you want some starting points for loads PM me and I can give you a couple recipes that work well for me. I've loaded for 3 different 300BLK semi autos and a bolt action over the last few years so I've got some data to share if you're interested.

Good luck

It'll be awhile yet getting all the remaining parts here, cerakoting the handguard and then putting it together - but hoping it all works out in the end too!

Pistol length gas and carbine buffer is the plan. I have some 135gn SMK's already, and a bunch of H110 that I've been using for .357 and .44 magnum. Have Hodgdon's data too of course, but would certainly appreciate some first hand experience as well, thanks - check your PM's!

Stocked some reloading supplies to have initial test loads ready to go once the build is finished. Still waiting on the bulk of parts mentioned above to arrive.

where did you find that BCM Lower parts kit sir?

Red Deer Shooting Center - went with this LPK as it has their PNT trigger included which has gotten decent reviews and could save me having to pay $$$ for something better than found in most LPK's.

Very cool. I love .300 blackout.

I shoot subs exclusively in mine...

Will probably try something there too eventually, but supersonic as a starting point! :)

BillD thanks but out of stock :(

Very nice build. Cant wait to see it finished.

Sorry, the only place I could find that had 'em but that was a couple weeks back. And thanks, will still need to send out for cerakoting - and patience is not a strong point of mine either lol.

Optic, a Nikon P300BLK and rings, arrived today - decent price on a 2x7 scope and great service from Reliable Gun in tracking one down for me. Will be interesting to see how Nikon's "Spot On" app works once I start sighting this in. Still waiting on some other parts, but the handguard is sent off to Black Box for cerakoting to match the already coated upper/lower. Slowly but surely it's all coming together.

Does that scope have calibrated reticle for 300BLK? I'm using a Hi-Lux 1-4 with the AK reticle (Wolverine carries them) which is calibrated for 120ish grain supersonic loads but I've never taken the time to shoot at different distances to see how accurate the yardage marks are. 2-7 is a great mag range for a short to intermediate range optic, I have a Burris E1 2-7 and it seems to get moved around from rifle to rifle but never sold.
Looking forward to seeing the finished product :)
