300BLK Build Begins - And Ends

Well handguard arrived today, but still waiting on the brake - backordered but supposed to be in stock again by next week....patience is a virtue! Will put it all together though, just wait to shoot it til that brake arrives.

"Black Box" Customs ships out in a black box, makes sense LOL! But a great job, very happy with the results! It's a 9.5" OdinWorks "O2 Lite" M-lok forend, and like it's name it is a very light piece indeed.

All together, except that brake - first build again, and an interesting learning experience for sure. Once the brake does arrive, I'll get it out for testing - tune in the gas block and sight in the scope.

Nice! What did it come in at for final weight all assembled? Do you plan to have the stock Cerakoted to match as well?

Thanks as well; trusty kitchen scales showing 6.8lbs now with the brake attached, empty mag, and scope - exactly as pictured above. Not sure if I'll keep that particular stock, so didn't cerakote it yet - will use it a bit first and see how I like it. Very happy with the work BlackBox did on the rest of it though.

Sweet lookin rifle. 6.5 Grendel next?. I swore I wouldn't buy a 94 in 307 win to avoid the obscure lever caliber rabbit hole, but it appears I may have fallen into the obscure ar caliber rabbit hole! Don't know if anyone has tried it but I run my 223 brass through the blk sizing die first without the decapping pin then cut, trim and size again. Found this a little quicker.

I've currently got a barrel and die set on order. I'm currently deciding on a handguard. Not for 6.5 though...

If I can build one that doesn't blow up I don't think you'll have any issues.

:D ....well it didn't blow up LOL! Got it our for initial testing today to adjust the gas block and it all went great! Once I spent a few rounds getting that gas block to function, it was almost boring - no FTF or FTE or failures of any kind after that. Only 50 rounds but figured that was good enough for a first outing.

Not sure what's next, but yes 6.5 Grendel has caught my attention and I like things a bit different LOL.

Crappy short vid, down to the last rounds for the test - but again, functioned fine, brass all ejecting 3 feet to about 4 o'clock.

2nd range visit, just to put some more break-in rounds through it and get it sighted in at 100M. Had 50 rounds of 135gn Sierra MK's +H110 loaded to mid-level range as per Hodgdon's site. Quick clean-up ev 5rds for the first 20 (same as first outing, think I left that part put in prior post), then 10 rds between cleaning for the final 30. So it's 100rds though it now and break-in should be done. Took a few rounds to get it on paper and then dial in the scope. Last LAR-15 mag (10rds) results below; 1 round "fouler" in upper top left, then center (another quick adj to windage) and then final two 3 round groups upper/lower right. Nothing special, but I've done no load development yet - just mid grade rounds for function/break-in. So I'm hoping to be able to tighten this up a bit more, but I'm certainly happy again with initial results for a 10.5" barrel and my first AR build. Have a 3 gun event coming up in a couple weekends time and I'll put it use there too now.
