Looking to aquire or put together a compact medium bull barrel bolt rifle in 300blk.

I have a pair of Mosberg Patrols in 556 and would love to convert one to 300blk.
Considering rebarreling one of em...or selling it off and buying a 300blk version which I believe they produce?

I also have an older Remmy 600 in 223 that I may rebarrel as well.

Obviously/Sadly we can't shoot supressed here so my focus will be on full speed lighter bullets as a plinker/hunter.
What twist and barrel length is the 300blk happy at?
I'd like to keep the barrel as short as legal/ballistically efficient as possible.

Appreciate any feedback on putting together a 300blk bolt gun for unsuppressed lightweight bullets.

Damn...whenever I mull on this project I get mad about suppressor use....krypes they are even MANDATORY in some very tightly controlled gun countires...... :(

I had this put together, and as it sits there its north of 2K$. Going shorter than factory made (14inch in my case) meant alot of extra money, which I would not do again. Add in the bases and ubercool flash suppresor and it was alot of coin, to which the cost of the rifle has to be added (the barrel alone was 1200+ by the time it was bought, installed etc). I would stick with a factory gun with a 16.5 inch if I got another 300. Even with the 14in the rifle is earplug quiet with subsonics, and frankly not that bad with supers either.

Consider a donor action like a Savage or Rem 783 that prefits are readily available for. Rem 700 is also useable but the other two are just easier to deal with.

Then it is easy and relatively cheap to go whatever you want.

All sorts of custom barrel features are possible... pm or email to discuss options.

I would try feeding 300 blk in your remmy first and see if it works before re barreling. My 700 is very picky and unreliable its a factory 300 blk and i read somewhere the ejector position is different from the 223 also

If you go the route of building one you want to start off with a 17 Fireball or a 221 Fireball as it's somehow slightly different that a 223 and your feeding and extraction will be better.
I have a 16 inch Remington AAC-SD in 300BLK as well as a semi auto in 300BLK (I've owned numerous rifles chambered in 300BLK) and have seen great performance from 110gr V-max and 155gr A-max loads. I currently have two loads with the 155gr's that are shooting sub moa from my Remington and my ACR with custom (home) built conversion kit.
Great little cartridge as long as a person doesn't go into it thinking it's a compact 308, the ballistics are no where near a 308.
