Nosler lists IMR 4350 as the "most accurate" powder they used for the 300 RUM wiht 180, 200, 220 gr bullets.

I'm loading for a buddies 300RUM. He is a guide, guides for sheep, elk, moose, grizzly, and uses this rifle to follow up on wounded game, including grizz.

I'm going to load 180gr TSX bullets (cause I have them and they shoudl work good) and I have a poound of IMR 4350 that I am not using, so I thought I woudl give it a go.

I probably won't get top velocities compared to the ultra slow powders, but it's not that necessary. 300WM velocities would be fine, the reason he has this rifle is becuase it is a lefty and he got it in a trade, I am sure he will never notice a few FPS.

Anyone else try IMR 4350 in a 300RUM?

It is the most accurate powder in my 300WM. I'm sure your buddy will be more than pleased with it in the RUM. Let us know how it works.

Interestingly..IMR 4350 is listed as having 100-125fps less velocity than the real slow burners in the 300RUM..According to nsoler.

Then again the Nosler data is very conservative for the ultramags.Compared to other data, the slower powders provide a larger gain over imr 4350.

Hmmm, same as the difference in velocity between a 300WM and a 30-06, which, many here will attest, means nothing.;)

I guess you are left with no choice other than to carefully work up a load in YOUR gun and see what it will do.....:D

'Course, I heard you were a speed freak and accuracy means nothing to you........
