A buddy of mine who is a northern BC hunting guide wants me to work up some loads for his 300RUM

A couple of questions:

Is trhe shellholder the same as a belted mag? My 300WSM brass works just fine in the regular RCBS #4

Bullet/powder selections that opwrk well for you? Obviously the slower powders are going to be the oens to look at, just wondring if there is a real preference.

I'm thinking the 180gr TSX or the 200GR Accubond, bepending on how much $$ he wants to spend:)

Any favorite recipes that are a good place to start? Thanks:)

I use the #38 shellholder recommended by RCBS.My rifles both like the 180gr tsx and r-25.Groups average 5/8" and the muzzle velocity is 3380fps.

Clark

he is my load that sgtrock and I both use in ours:

200 grain AccuBond
Federal Large Match Rifle Primer
91 grains of Retumbo

crony'd at 3200 FPS @ 800 ft above sea level

*** watch mag well clearance as the recoil will beat the #### out of the tips if not loaded back far enough ***

If you need a short term rental of dies and case holder drop me a line!

my short ultra's took a #38 RCBS shellholder

Id try some 180 TSX over a ####load of RL25 or Retumbo, WLRM primer (supposed to be the hottest)

I have been playing with H50BMG in my RUM tossing 220gr MK. Use 93 to 94gr so would consider it way too slow for the lighter bullets.

My suggestion would be Retumbo or H1000. Re25 should also work very well but not always easy to find.

These loads give me 1.25" groups/5 shots @ 300 yards in my 700 PSS:

- Nosler Ballistic tip or Nosler/Winchester 180 Ballistic silvertip 180 gr, 95 gr reloader 25, Federal large rifle magnum primers. 3100 ft/s

- Nosler Accubond 200 gr, 94 gr retumbo, Federal large rifle magnum primers. 3100 ft/s.

:)

The 2 loads that I have settled on for my s/s Rem 700 BDL 300RUM are...

1) 180gr Swift Scirrocco, 98grs Retumbo and Federal 215 primers = 3380fps

2) 200gr Swift A-Frame, 92grs RL25 and Federal 215 primers = 3200fps

As per me always thinking about covering my butt please reduce the loads by 15% and slowly work up to the top loads for your rifle.
