I know this might be a silly question, but can someone measure factory loaded .300 Weatherby ammo and let me know the neck diameter? I am buying some Redding Type S dies, and need an idea on what size of bushing to buy.

The thickness of the brass at the neck should be about .015".
.015X2 =.03
.03 + .308 = .338"

My .308 bushing is .334"

The bushing can produce 2 different neck diameters, if the Redding size stamp is facing up it sizes as indicated, if the stamp faces down it is about .002" tighter. If you wish to experiment with the effects of different neck tension, bushings in .330", .334", .338", and .340" will cover your bases.

Can you please explain this a little more in detail? I just got an S die a week ago and have another on the way.

The bushing appear to be cut on a slight taper, so if the stamped side of the bushing is facing down, you will gain a bit more constiction. To check this out for yourself, take a loaded round and slide the bushing over the neck with the stamped side facing up. Mark the case neck at the underside of the bushing, then switch the bushing over and drop it on the neck again with the stamped side facing down, and it won't go on as far.
