I have been shooting 200gr bullets using 4831sc and want to bump up to 225gr bullets, anybody reloading 225gr bullets and what powder and velocities/ success are you having,

Thanks Dwane

I’m sure I am pointing out the obvious but is your twist rate up for that bullet?

This. I went with a 300PRC partly because of the factory twist rate. Powder is the biggest challenge, assuming you have primers already. Enduron 7977 and 8133, Vihitavouri N170 and V570, H1000, Retumbo, Reloader 26 for my PRC, whose needs are very similar. If your chamber is factory, you may have to single feed to get the heavy bullets seated out far enough to get enough slow powder under them to make difference. 220’s I think I’m around 2750 in a 26” barrel. Not pushing too hard, no need. Next time I would have a custom rifle put together, probably in 300Norma.

I shoot a 300 win mag with 215 Berger hybrids. I did it with a reamer with long throat. Used extended mag boxes. With H-1000 federal 215M. I am getting right around 3000fps with a 26 inch Brux barrel, stiller action. And it’s very accurate.

I also did a 300 PRC with a 1-9 twist IBI, I am shooting the 225 Eldm out of it. Using R-26 in that one with ADG brass.

I'm putting together another 30-338, and will likely use a faster than std twist barrel (assuming I can find one, so far the fastest twist I found is 1-9) just to use these heavier bullets. I would just load some up in your case and see how they do. Sometimes you can be surprised. I have used up to 215 gr in one of my 300 WM's, and while not as accurate in that rifle as the 190's, they are still decent groupers. - dan
