well I was sitting there last night with my junker enfield and the Rem 700 take off barrel in 270Win and thought I should do the math to see just what I might be able to do.
Well the barrel shank is fine on the 270 as the enfield only needs a 1" shank
Then there is the little problem that the 270 is a lot larger at the base then the 303, from memory I think its .473" compared to .455" and the 270 tapers to .441 at the sholders. So doing a little math to determine where the taper of the 270 is .455: I find I will have to cut off the first 1.092" (minimum) of the barrel just to keep the base of the 303 round from blowing out.
Now the barrel is only 20" long so max cut would be 1.75" so I'm still Ok for lenght.
Next I guess I should see if anyone has a reamer for 303/277 Epps.
But before that project gets too far along I have a 1979 Suzuki LJ80 4x4 that needs some work
