303 Brit- Frontier CMJ

I'm interested in ordering some frontier 174 grn CMJ's from marstar. I searched but didnt find much info on their performance.

Who has experience with them? Any good recipes using IMR 4320?

I've also got a couple of newbie questions in regards to bullet seating. It seems that I get a wide range of OAL using my rcbs seater die.. up to .02" difference between rounds. Although in a batch, about half have an OAL of what I set the die to. Is this an acceptable variance?

Also, does seating depth affect velocity? I've been using Hornady FMJBT which seat far deeper than other rounds if you use the cannelure.

I'm using 4320 with these, takes a little fudging to get the OAL right. They can be finicky to feed though. But certainly the cheapest bullet to load in .303, the accuracy is good as well. I will look up my load which is on the light side.

They are also a pretty good big game bullet with a 1/16" hole drilled 1/8" deep in the nose. At least the 230 gr ones are!

From what I have read and heard, they are actually a very good game bullet without the hollow pointing, but as you know FMJ bullets are not allowed here.

Most likely.

I certainly would not bet on any CO knowing the difference between plated and FMJ.

Correction: it's a 1/8" hole drilled 1/16" deep. That's just enough to get through the jacket.
