My uncle told me that their wer barrel insert's for the Enfield 303 for the army cadet's to use that shot .22Lr? is this true? I have never seen or heard tell of one except from him.
There was something like that for the FN SLR made by hekler & koch i believe for training, tube just slid in to barrel and a different bolt , converted in a couple of mins .
They were called MORRIS TUBES..... and were in .22 and .297 cal.
They were made for the Martini, Long Lee, and SMLE series
You will find butt stocks marked AT and MT for aiming tube and/or Morris Tube if they were dedicated rifles for the tubes.
Later called "aiming tubes" The morris tube was for the 297/230 centre fire cartridge. there was a short and long version.
Got one of those, and
an aiming tube for a Long lee,
and the .22 conversion kit for the SLR.
and if you want to know what happened to most of the morris tubes, BSA used them for rebar when pouring concrete bases for their machinery.
