My camera is broken or I would get pictures but I have some 303 British Ball that I want to identify.

When looking at the headstamp at the top it has "303MK8Z" and at the bottom is has "PP-73", the bullet is a FMJ and the primer has a red sealant on it.

I have been told this is 1973 PPU ammo and very safe and shootable but I don't know much about it, I have 15 rounds, was included with a bunch of other stuff.

Thanks

From a site I use to ID my 303

Ok, so as expected we know it is PPU.

What about the rest of the stamp? I have heard Mk8 is machine gun and not suitable for rifles, is this legit?

Mk.8 ammunition used a boat tailed bullet for enhanced long range performance when used in a mounted machinegun. Sight calibrations will be off.Of course most shooter don't use these sights for multiple range shooting anyway, so this is irrelevant.

So no problems with safety shooting these in a rifle, I had heard they were higher power but it sounds like they are just boat tail, no biggie there.

My Enfields tend to prefer flat-based bullets, so I would be prepared for poor accuracy from the boat-tails. But they should fire just fine.

Just like many, they want to blow out a bit and fill the bore, very few enfields are match bores, I know that boat tail is better for long range but if it does not stabilize in the bore who cares.

Good to know they are safe to shoot, I will assume corrosive and have 15 rounds of fun with them.
