.303 British Recipes

303 reduced loads

Use the Hodgdon manual. Reduced loads with H4895 powder only, multiply the max load by 60% a good choice for young or new shooters. Will create loads that run from 1500 to 2100 feet per sec. and good accuracy out to 200 yds and you can use regular bullets, cast lead not required.

From the #26 Manual
Reduced recoil loads

303 British

130 grain bullet 43 grains H4895 x 0.60 = 25.8 grains H4895

150 grain bullet 42 grains H4895 x 0.60 = 25.2 grains H4895

180 grain bullet 40 grains H4895 x 0.60 = 24 grains H4895

I have used this info to make 30.06 ammunition that duplicates 30.30 velocities and recoil for a young friend

You have it backwards. Cast lead bullets are regular bullets. The cheaper version are those that have to be covered in copper to work. Just ask the Buffalo.:D
