I am going to use some 215 grain cast and gas checked bullets but I don't want full house loads. I have done some scouting around and some suggest fillers over the powder while others don't mention it. I have 2400 and SR4759 both of which are suggested as possibles for these loads. Can I have some input from those with experience please? Dave

Dave,

I used 29.0 grs of RL7 under the same bullet and got a consistent 1750 fps and good accuracy (4th out of 13 in a Milshoot). I tried a few loads with 15.0 grs of Unique and got 1500 fps, but didn't check grouping.

I don't believe in fillers, and I don't like having to tip the gun up before each shot to get consistent velocity, so I either use small amounts of fast pistol powders (Unique and faster), or medium load densities (50%+) of fast rifle powders like the RL7. I have both 2400 and SR4759 but have not tried them in the 303 Brit.

I have started fooling around with IMR Trail Boss. It is VERY fluffy and might be worth a try.

Dave: I use 19grs. of SR4759 in my .308 for 200gr. cast bullets, no fillers...very accurate!!! I don't see why it wouldn't work in the .303..similar case capacity!!

27 gr of Varget behind the 215gr cast bullet is a good grouping pleasurable shoot .
I do just under 2" groups at 100 yards with this.

303 reduced loads... not reccomending this data but in #4 Long branch this worked for me....

Useing Lee 200 gr. ish, gas checked and A2400 powder:

Started at 18.0 grs for about 1500 fps and went to the book max at 23.0 @ 1800 fps....my accuracy of 1.50 in. and /75 yds came with 18.0 and 19.0 gr......groups got bigger for me past 19.0.

Same bullet and Reddot powder:
10.0 gr.....1241.1217,1245,fps 2 shots.50 3rd to 1.60 in/75 yds.

11.0 gr.....1276, 1284,1300 .fps 3 shots @ 1.40/ 75 yds.

12.0 gr......1372,1370,1367 ,fps 3 shots @ 3 inch group/75 yd

13.0 gr.......1439,1422,1427 fps 2 shots .80 3rd made 1.50 in. group/75 yds.

I use the reddot with 10.0 grns. for my grouse(headshots)/small game / and on a few occasions as a "finishing shot" for deer that required same and it works better than a full power load on edible game..........no fillers were used in this load data, as I only use fillers in straight wall cases if used at all to assist in load/accuracy development.

Some of these powders/loads work well for me using 150 gr and 180 gr. cast also.

hs4570.............your mileage may vary

Hi, You already have one of the best powder especially for reduced loads. I also use the 4759 for my 06 and 303 with lights hornady bullets only.

I took my data in ''Lee Modern reloading for the 06''. For the 303 try this website:

303british.com

I think Speer #11 and #12 list a bunch of reduced loads with 4759.
