Well my project continues.

If you remember this

Well I have replaced the front site and now have a 2 position L site for the rear, no problems fising up the sights.

The charger bridge is the kicker, as you can see the bubbaed one was staked on with 2 pins and I thought I was going to have some fun. Well I got a crushed reciever (Savage with barrel) from Klunk and set it up in the press to remove it and to my surprise... No pins it was just soldered in place and came out easy (well it's a 2 ton press)

Next its slightly different in shape the bottom is flat not like the one that was bubbaed, I guess another wartime expedient, I'll have to check in the big old Lee Enfield Story.

I also have some interesting wood for this rifle but need to get some proper top handguards.

The LB is fully wooded now too :)

and yes I know pictures are needed

crushed savage was a Mk1*

I'll have to get some pictures posted,

I'll check the serial numbers but I'm fairly confident that the flat bottom one is from a later manufacture then the rounded bottom.

If it was a crushed savage Mk1 I would be crying :(

If you want to sell the ass end of that crushed reciever, You know I will give it a good home. just the socket and safety.
Still love the coins...LOL

Ok first picture is of the two different types of charger bridges. Both are from savage rifles, the one on the left that is pinned on is actually from a later manufacture 81C and the one on the right is from a 31C and is soldered.

Now dosing is going to be running back and forth between the drill press and his computer thinking of this but stock. It was salvaged from the 31C savage. Can Anyone tell me what it says, I'll be using it to restore another savage.

and finally a few pictures of a bubba Longbranch No4 that I have almost finished fixing. All it needs is to have the forestock wood reoiled to darken it and the but needs to be stripped and reoiled to lighten it

I have had good luck posting markings/cartouches etc on Language Translation Forums. Do a Google search and you will find them. I usually post a cropped pic of the marking so the eggheads don't have a seizure when they see an "evil gun"

For example, I found out that a Turk I had was a police weapon, and the province of a Chinese Militia VZ24.

Its says "Dosing Cribbage Co Inc Ltd", yeah, yeah I'd drill that :D
You would likely do better over at www.gunboards.com or www.milsurpshooter.net on finding info on that butt.
Does it have a buttplate on it?

I do believe thoes are chinese symbols and the butt stock is off one of the 40,000 U.S. made rifles that were supplied to China.
