303 Savage for black bear hunting?

No... but I don't have to do it to know that you can kill any blackie walking with one... use a cup and core bullet and practice with your rifle... put one in the lungs and let him run... he will be down in short order... we had many clients over the years use .303's... happy BBQing.

I haven't used one, but it shouldn't be a problem. Black bears are as tough to kill as whitetails. I have seen more than a few taken with .243's and they were just as dead as the one I took with a .338

I'd do it in a heartbeat. I've killed black bears with the .30-30 and the Savage round is pretty much a twin sister. I have a .303 Savage presently that I would certainly hunt blackies with if I could find an accurate load, LOL!
