I just picked up 1000 .311 bullets at the Edmonton gun show on Sunday morning. I got them for $200. That should keep me shooting for a bit
Hopefully you have a .310 to .312 diameter bore. If not, you won't be happy with the accuracy from those bullets. Sometimes you can find a load that will fill a sweet spot if you have a larger bore diameter but if the throat in your rifle is well worn, you may not get that lucky. I sincerely hope they work well for you. At that price they are likely FMJ???
I was at Cantire a few weeks ago, and yeah 303 was cheaper than the prices you guys are saying...I feel like federal's were like $29.99 there
if you plan on shooting your jc a fair bit, start casting. you can make range and hunting rounds for literally pennies per round.
With a gas check you can usually do around 2200fps, but often you can get great accuracy around 1500 which is easier on brass, which is important in 303.
My 303 loads cost:
Bullet is 0.22
Powder is 0.11 (16gr 2400)
Primer is 0.03
Total of 34 cents not including brass, which costs me about 10 cents per firing.
So all in, about 44 cents.
you are gas checking the projectile?
