3030 reciver pitting

I always sand blast and parkerize before final coating.
You may also want to get a filler for the deep pits.
 
Remember, coatings stick better to a more ruff finish since it has something to "hold" on to. And parkerizing simply adds and added level of protection to the coatings.
 
If the pits are really deep, the action may need to be draw filed, and re-blued. I've done it myself to one rifle. Takes time and patience.
I found I needed to card the file pretty much after every stroke to avoid gouging the metal also, grind off the edges of the file so they don't gouge.
