.305 caliber

Anybody know anything about a rifle in .305 caliber? My brother in law told me at Christmas he has a rifle in this caliber that he got from his grandfather so I assume it has some age on it. I tried researching it but all I found was a bolt action BSA on an auction site with was no real information on it's origin .

He does not sound like a gun person... he probably meant either .308 or .303... or possibly .307, depending on how old he is.
