The big bullets 190 up I would think the best powder would be RL 17 if you can get some.

A 14 twist in 30 will not stabalize the heavies. Now if you were refering to the 8 twist, ignor me bro cause an 8 twist would stabalize major heavies. I would also say the 154 senars or 155 bergers.

Lapua GB491 154gr. Scenars do not shoot well in my Hart-barreled .308 Win. They might in yours, but the trend is to use 1-12" for these long bullets. Of course, as experienced shooters will advise, try various types of 155's.

Peter

It is not about weight of bullet, it is about length of bullet. Most of the bullet offerings up to 155 should work, but I am not sure about the Berger 155.5

Ian is corrrect. The Lapua 154 is longer than a Sierra 168 and I have seen where they haven't shot well in slow twist. They may or may not in yours.

I have tried the Lapua 154's in my 14 twist Hart and they shoot reasonably well with no sign of tipping at three hundred meters but I don't know about longer ranges. They shoot better than Sierra 155's but not as well as 168's and 150's from Sierra.
To put things in perspective, ten shot groups with 168's or 150's will run about 7/8 inch at 300 meters from this rifle. I built this as a 300 meter rifle and don't consider it usable beyond 600.
The Lapuas produce groups of about 1 1/2 inches at the same range. The dispersion is mostly vertical so it may simply be a matter of tuning. There are no erratic fliers. I do consider the 154's to be a little on the long side though and will likely not use them in this barrel. I have a 12 twist barrel fitted to another rifle which I've not tried yet. I have high hopes! Regards, Bill.

im gona load up some 150gr Hornady FMJ/BT bullets 2night and take them to the range on sunday along with some Remington 168gr Remington premier match. see witch one works the best.
