I agree 100%, but the man did the right thing......When in doubt ask before trying.....

Nope. The .308 Norma has a belted case and is .545" longer than a .308 Win. It's based in a .338 Win Mag case.

just stick to the ammo meatn for any firearm its designed for. my 2 cents

You are absolutely right. I remember, many moons ago, doing a safety test and the examiner tried to trick me 2x. The first was by offering a .303 Savage round for a .303 British, the second was offering a 3" 12g shell in a 2 3/4" only shotgun.

Interesting that you mention the 303 Savage/British because I distinctly remember as a teenager in the 60s growing up in a ranching area in Saskatchewan, several of our neighbors owned the 99 Savage in 303 because the nearest general store brought in a bunch of 99s in that chambering.
The old store-keeper knew what to sell them for ammo, but when they were shopping in the big city and asked for "303" invariably they ended up with 303Brit., that is until they specified Savage...
