.308/44mag?

My buddy was talking about getting 44 Magnum sabots in his 50 calibre black powder gun, and I got me curious on whether I could put a 308 round in a 44 Magnum if such a beast would even exist. I'm not a big fan of Sabots but the lightest projectile data 44 should shoot a 308 with much better trajectory.

There are 45/357 sabots, not sure if one exists to go from 44 to 308, probably not. There is a 308 to 224 sabot though, Remington made an accelerator load for 30-30, 308 and 3006 back in the day.
