My bad, I just checked my stash and turns out I got them from LeBaron and not Gagnons.
I'm fairly certain it is. It's even named a BTHP Match. The AMAX doesn't have a hallow point. I think that's what you were getting at?
They differ quite a bit. The ogive is more rounded like a 168 SMK. The frustum is also like the SMK 168 SMK. I believe the length is shorter compared to the AMAX.
A word of caution for those not knowing, not all projectiles are made the same. The major example is the SMK 168 and 175. HUGE difference.
The B.C of the MATCH is lower then the AMAX on most weights (30cal anyways). That being said, I know rifles that didn't like the 178 AMAX and shot VERY well with the 178 MATCH.
Id think if you are doing sub 600yards, the MATCH would still work well. Maybe better. I wouldn't assume load development could be kept the same. I know the AMAX is not a hunting round, but people use it. I can't say the MATCH is good for that either.
