Okay now I am totally confused. I have been reloading both my .308 Browning BLR and my 30-06 Win model 70 with IMR4350 powder and CCI200 primers. After several posts and tireless research on the internet I believe I will stay with the IMR4350 powder for my 30-06, but have no clue which IMR (I like and trust this brand) powder to load my .308. My 30-06 I use 180 gr Nosler PPT and my .308 I use 165 gr Nosler Part(closest to 168 gr match bullets in Nosler). Now what IMR powder is best suited for the .308 Win? IMR4064? IMR4007 SCC? IMR8208 XBR? IMR3031?

IMR powder is now owned by Hodgdon (who also makes Winchester powders) they along with the other majors all make good powders.

In my .308's I like IMR 4895, IMR 4064, Hodgdon H4895, Hodgdon BL (c) 2 Hodgdon Varget, Winchester 748.

I'm sure other people will also have many good choices, but I like to use the 4895 and 4064 the most for bolt actions, and the 748 a lot for loading bulk amounts for my M14.

That said my .308 Deer hunting load is a Nosler BT 165gr and Varget.

I think it would be a toss up between IMR4320 and IMR4064. Both will give you full cases and good velocity. I like to see the case full or slightly compressed. That said I am not a big fan of IMR due to the temperature sensitivity. I would like to support a Canadian company, but all in all I don't think IMR measures up to the Hodgdon Extreme line of powders. They are made by ADI in Australia, and pretty much take temperature out of the equation. In the Hodgdon line I would go with the very popular and well proven Varget. Full case as well, and same or slightly better velocity.

I use IMR 4320 in my 308win.
Seems to group well with this powder.
The kid shoots clover leafs with her Stevens 200 in this caliber as well.
First three shots anyways.

IMR 3031 is a bit on the fast side , I tried it like it so-n-so for 308.
WIN748 really really good and I liked it shooting in 308, a bit of slow than 3031
WIN760 be good for 30-06 a bit of more slower than win748 and work good for 30-06 and you can also try imr4350 / imr 4065 = not much different in velocity for 30-06, I'm speaking for myself
I go for more slower if I shoot heavier bullets in 06 like 180gr and also 300WM, I pick H4831 .
Or you can stay close to IMR4831 if only shooting heavier bullets like 180gr in -06
Although it's not a bad idea to buy more than one Reloading Manuals and keep the records ,my 2cts -Biggs

With 165 gr or there abouts I have had good results with IMR 4895. It is usually my go to powder in this size of case to see what its potential is. Just my .02

Have you looked at the Hodgon website with their reloading data. They will have loading data with all of the IMR and Winchester powders, and you could pick from a company approved load.
I concur, 4350 will not give you top velocities in your .308. I have had good results with 4895 and Reloder 15, with 150 grain and some limited use with the 165 grain.

I've had great luck with IMR4895, and fair with IMR4064. For some reason my luck with H4895 hasn't been that great, odd since everyone else seems to love it. Varget has been good to me.

I reload for my 308 BLR but have only used Varget ( 44.5 grs behind a 165 gr. bullet ) great accuracy and dead moose don't tell lies.

From what I am reading it seems to be leaning towards the IMR4895 or the IMR4064. Most of what all of you have been writing and the internet is saying the IMR4895 is the best fit for the .308win for velocity and accuracy.

4895 is your best bet. 4064 is the same composition, with bigger chunks of powder. Does not meter as well as 4895, but just fine if you trickle/weigh your powder.

4320 is prone to lot to lot variations.

I have used thousands of pounds of 4895 to load 308. Not because it is my favourite powder, but because it was so cheap. My favourite powder for 308 and 3006 (and 223) is RL15.
