.308 brass to 7mm-08?

I just saw the thread about fire forming .308 to 7mm-08 (didn't want to hijack the thread), but I want to go the other way. 7mm-08 brass isn't always that easy to find, so I was thinking just buy some .308 and neck it down. Is this what most people do? Thanks to those who reply.

I just use 1x or buy new Winchester 7mm-08 as my local stores always have it but you can convert it from 308 if you want. Just don't mix them up.

That thread was asking about making 7-08 into 308. If you want to size 308 down to 7-08 it's easy. I did it for quite a while till I got a good supply of 7-08. Just make sure you've a good lube inside the neck and a stable mount for the vise. (mine's portable) It can take a little effort but it's very do-able.

Yep, just lube the neck inside and out, and go to town. That's how the 7mm-08 came to be, before it was legitimized by Remington. By the way, I like your forum name. You don't have a pet hawk, do you?

I do the same as other posts but I use my dremel with a small stone and remove the 308 numbers from case head so as not to get mixed up with my 308 loads,by the way I do this because I have lots of once fired 308 brass and no 7mm-08 brass
