What 308 bullet would you recommend for the best accuracy. Just shooting paper out to 400 yds. Have lots of reloading experience and cost is not really an issue.
Thanks

For short range like that, just about any match bullet will work.

Some are fussy to get working; some are quite forgiving.

I have used the Sierra 155, Sierra 175 and the Berger 155.5.

These all work quite well to 1000 yards.

Favourite powders are Varget, RL15 and N140.

Anything'll work for 400 yards. I say you have two options, shoot whatever the cheapest thing your rifle shoots well, or get a longer range load, and just use it, but honestly, you won't see a huge seperation between projectiles at 400 yards.

For within 500m, I like the Lapua 185gr scenar. Your 1:10 will work and you won’t have to use as much powder as the lighter, faster bullets.
If you’re only shooting to 400, then it should work...
But if you want a do-all load...go with a 175/178 bullet. Hornady ELD-M.

The Sierra 168 grain bullet was designed for short range benchrest and has (had?) a lot of benchrest records for .308 if I recall correctly.

At the end of the day, it's going to come down to whichever bullet your rifle likes best.

The Sierra 168SMK was designed by Ferris Pindell(PPC) in the '60s for 300m international shooting at which it was successful as it is very accurate. As it is so short, it is well known to be unstable through transonic zone - no good for longrange.
Lots of options - test to determine what works best.
